About Me:
I'm a Kiwi, living in Luton.

I gardened in NZ as a kid. My favourite crops were potatoes, and popcorn - I used to grow lots of both. I also started out pruning fruit trees (peaches, nectarines, plums, apples & pears) at a very early age, and really enjoy the results of doing a good job.

The first job I was ever sacked from was weeding pumpkins in a market garden when I was 13 (for not finding a stone adze in one of my rows - I was looking for weeds damn it, not rocks!)

In March I moved to Luton from Willesden Green in North West London where I'd lived for 8 years, and within 2 weeks I had my first allotment - it's at Stockwood Park (Luton Leisure Gardens)

Favorite Music:
Joanie Mitchell - Woodstock:
"We are stardust, we are golden, and we’ve got to get ourselves back to the garden..."
Favorite TV Shows:
I haven't had a TV since 1992 - too much digging to do!

Why an Allotnet page?

Hi... I'm going to try and record my gardening thoughts and experiences here... hopefully this will save me wearing everybody's ears off going over my stories again and again like a broken record!

I would like to add a special section on Masanobu Fukuoka when I figure out how...

But until then, this post can hold the basics:

Last week the JCB came....

Last week the JCB finally came as promised to "strip off the vegetation" of the plots where the road is going to go...

Someone told me a tragic story on Saturday evening - he described an elderly gentleman standing there waving his arms at the driver crying "Don't do this to me!" - everyone had had plenty of warning (and many of us had done as much in preparation as possible!) but he obviously hadn't expected to have his years of work stripped to bare earth in a matter of minutes - incl… Continue

Good pruning articles...

Woo! just bought a house (with a large garden) so I can think about fruit trees again!

Here are some good links I found tonight on Wikipedia:
