In The Home Front Billy Bragg sang:

"And from the TV an unwatched voice Suggests the answer is to plant more trees"

- those words have rung in my ears for 20 years.

It filled me with a sinking feeling to hear the idiots on the news talking a couple of months ago about research that said that planting trees in the northern hemisphere could actually *increase* global warming... GEH! - give them something to distract them from helping, an excuse to cop out from doing anything and to keep stripping the planet!

Trees are our lungs, trees sequester carbon better than any artificial thing like pumping CO2 into the ground!
